The women’s side of Sports

Shirzanan: Is there a women’s side in sports? while watching a documentary on the history of women’s soccer in United States on HBO, Andrew Nuschler, the columnist in Bleacher Report sports network, got to think that “the women’s side of sports is essentially the yang to the men’s side’s yin.” In his report, The Feminine Side of Sports, he writes, “[…]Can you imagine a female athlete promoting herself like Deion Sanders or Terrad Owens Sinko while playing a team sport? If you listen to a female athlete who fits that description talk about her sport, you almost totally forget about the individual. You have to specifically ask about HER role to get her to use the word ’I.’ And the joy they feel after succeeding as a team is palpable.”

Bronze medal for Iran women’s badminton team

Shirzanan: After a badminton player from Iran first attended in Olympics games 2008, Iran’s badminton federation got motivated to invest in talented people in badmintons and change the accidental side of Iran’s attendance in international competitions by planning a head of time. The glorious results of Iran women’s badminton team in Syrian competitions, about a month ago, is another proof of women’s badminton players talents and abilities.

Iran women’s badminton team had played brilliantly, again, in Bahrain’s $15000 competition, Bahrain International Badminton Challenge 2008, in Manama. Players from Iran, India, Syrian, Austria, Bahrain, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Germany, Canada, and Slovakia competed in these games. In women’s doubles, Negin Amiripour and Sahar Zamanian from Iran got to the finals by defeating their Bahraini and Indian opponants. In the finals Iran was defeated 2-0 by Indian players to stand in third place. Bahrain International Challenge is a well-respected annual badminton tournament.

About the 2008 competition in Bahrain, an expert in women’s badminton told Shirzanan, “Although Iran has lots of talented women badminton players, they lack experience in international games.” Fariba Madadi said, “ Negin Amiripour, Sahar Zamanian and Sabereh Kabiri, are our grate players who performed well in the Bahrain tournament and got the Bronze medal in women’s double. We need to make more opportunieties for these players, if we want to see better results.”
