Interview
Shirzanan – Fereshte Movahed: This an interview with Khadijeh Sepanji regarding the circumstances of women’s football team after their last game against Azerbaijan.
Q: Ms. Sepanji is the team ready for the tournament? And were the preparatory games helpful?
A: Based on our scheduling in last year we put our players in tense and continuous camps. They are motivated for the Western Asian Championship, which will start in the middle of September in Jordan. I should add that Iraq and Palestine had resigned from the games. So all the remaining teams are playing in one group. About the preparatory games I should say we had three matches. They helped the team to play in more harmony. They also helped us to keep our spirits high. Our footballists’ only thought is now to become the champion of this tournament.
Q: What is the future plan? And what can be the best help for the team?
A: We will continue our camps. We prepare for the Asia Football Championship. In October we will have our first game against India. They should carry on their practices. Our players had a very good progress and I am sure as long as we keep up with the practices we can be successful. With the help of the federation and if they don’t create any obstacle and problem by sure we will do better. We have asked the federation for a special camp and dormitory so we can plan and practice with more care.
Q: Are you pleased with the growing interest on women’s football?
A: the progress of Women’s sport in general and Football in particular needs time. Until the social and cultural views about these matter changes we need to be watchful, otherwise we gain noting but loss.
