The point is in the circumstances that the women’s sport as a whole does not attract enough attentions how can the Women’s Paralympic makes its footsteps steady? But if our observations of today’s celebration is correct and if we believe that the authorities’ views on Paralympic events are changing we should ask ourselves what is going to happen to women’s Paralympic? We should ask up to what point the only sports that disabled women athletes can professionally participate in are going to be Volleyball (Sitting) and Shooting? Do we have Wheelchair Basketball for women? What is the deal with women’ Athletics (Track and field)? How many percent is allocated to women among the 19 athletic fields of Iran’s Paralympic federation? How many times women’s Paralympic teams were sent abroad for international games in those two fields?

The International Paralympic Day is not only to celebrate events related to Children, teens and youth but also women. Although we strongly support these extra attentions toward Iran’s Paralympic games, we should remind ourselves the existence of gender discrimination in this issue wouldn’t help anyone. Women’s sport won’t have any problems with the Islamic cover for disabled women athletes, but the authorities did not do anything, yet, to make this branch of women’s sports in Iran more professional and internationally known. Where we have a chance to win medals for the country, we should not make any discrimination among our medal winners; Men or Women.

Let us not forget, Sir Philip Carven, the President of the international Paralympic Committee, who appreciated Iran’s and Brazil’s pioneering and their improvements in Paralympic games. No one from the Athletic & Physical Education Organization was present in the International Paralympic day celebration. This absence could not be hidden from the publics eyes and so their ignorance and indifference towards women athletes; These bring more negative scores for the sport authorities in the higher level of administration.

How do you see the Indian team? And how come we lost to India? No one though that it became a big challenge for us?

Indian team has physical power and speed. With its 12-year experience in international football it is a better team than Iran. Iran’s team is good too and that will make it a very attractive match to watch. I believe if our football players were more experienced we could do better in the first game. We should never underestimate our opponents. Of course all other teams are practicing hard too. They won’t sit and wait for Iran’s team to win the match. Our women football team is very young – 2 years and 2 months old. Even in Indian media they had expected us to loose 0 to 10. Our players fought hard for 90 minutes. Every one was surprised that this inexperienced team did not lost severely.

Do you really think that we have a chance in the return match? How much we being the host team can help us?

We played against India before and the first leg was also another experience for us. We know India’s team better know and this will assist us in the return match. I should say we definitely have a chance and we can be qualified for the women Asian Cup. We need to have audiences and fans. Iran’s team needs their encouragement and support. This is a good opportunity to ask the public because of the distractions please do not bring your cell phones or cameras.
