Being a Woman Grand Master was a wonderful achievement

Shirzanan:translation by Roja Najafi: Everything started when I was 7 years old. In fact that year was a beginning of a new era in my life. I have started playing chess back then. At 9 years old I won the third place in the national (Senior) chess championship and at 11 I was title WGM (Woman Grand Master) by FIDE International Chess Federation. I practiced a lot and little by little I could get better scores. I was the champion in West Asian chess championship and I became the first Iranian woman with an International Master title.

In the national women’s Canoe polo championship competition in Iran

Isfahan, A champion beyond doubts

Shirzanan: Fereshteh Movahed/Translation by Roja Najafi: The paste 3 days from December 12th to 15th, the swimming pool of the Education Department in Karaj was a host to the national women’s Canoe polo championship and the national team qualification competitions. 15 teams from 14 provinces of Iran were participating in these games. At the end of these competitions Isfahan’s team with their neat and clever games became the champion and Tehran’s (A) team came out second and Gillan became third. One of the highlights of these competitions was that for the first time the referees were also women; the efforts of the federation’s referee’s committee made this possible. Even in the final match where usually the referee is a man, the first and the second referees were women and there were no objections to their rulings........
