Shirzanan – Shabnam Shakourian / translated by Roja Najafi: Dear Mr. Safaie Salaam, I know that you are not interested in unimportant gossips. People’s view and Women’s Sports Analysis

Shirzanan – Solmaz Sharif: Last week one athletic event became the headline of many sports news pages; even it overcame two important soccer news of this week, the resignation of Afshin Ghotbi, the head coach of Persepolis team and the heavy fine for Nikbackt Vahedy, the national soccer team player.

The news that robe Iran’s Soccer place in headlines was this: “The first Iranian female contestant in the world karate championship contests in Tokyo was disqualified from competing immediately after stepping on the mat. Helen Sepasi, a member Iran women’s Kate team, appeared on the mat wearing the Islamic headscarfe, to compete her Chinese rival, but bowed out of the games after she was told that the rules of the game did not permit non-uniform outfit. Sepasi’s refusal to remove her veil was applauded by other women in the venue.” The competition took place in Tokyo and two Iranian women were participating in the games. The other athlete was Shahnaz Mirheidary.

The news outcome was as lengthy as “Shahnameh”, the famous and long Persian poetry book “The Book of Kings". Iran’s Olympics committee says that they will send their written objection to the head of IKF. Bahram Afsharzadeh, the head of Iran Olympics Committee, said, “ The problem is that if our athletes were not allowed to participate in these competitions why did the IKF allowed for their registration and they took photos of them.”
