Expectable Outcomes

Be Forethoughtful

Shirzanan:Susan Sadeghi-translator/Roja Najafi: Iran’s women national volleyball team that after 3o years and for the seconded time was able to enter the Asian Volleyball Championship could not get any title better than twelfth among not more than fourteen teams. Iranian Volleyballists lost to Kazakhstan, Thailand, New Zealand and Indonesia. Women Volleyball team won only in a few of its games. Bearing in mind that these games were Iran’s first international championship experience after the Islamic Revolution and that their opponents were among the most powerful teams in Asia we could have expect such outcomes.

However women national volleyball team had passed a good deal of practices and exercises one should admit those trainings were not enough for this tournament. And by sure we can say that having only one preparatory game with Armenia was not enough. In the other hand the organizers should have known that in such an important event in which all participants have had international experiences not only in Asian games but also all over the world, experience matters a great deal.

The End of Track and Field league and Azad University ‘s Championship Title

14 New Records on Track and Field

Shirzanan:Shabnam Shakourian-translator/Roja Najafi: In 2007, women Track and Filed athletes not only set up a higher record within the country but also they established a higher level in the international championships in all three rounds of the competitions. In the last two days, according to Shirzanan, Iran’s Track and Field records have improved 14 times by Ebrahimi, Toosi and Safavi. At the end of this tournament Azad University has won the championship’s title.

Athlete’s participation in the international events has lifted their motives.

Acquisition of the Bronze medal in Asian championship by Ebrahimi in one hand and the increasing number of international competitions which Iran’s women track and field athletes participate in, in the other hand made us believe that these the causes behind the improvement of this field. The new 14 records are another evidence for the importance of overseas competitions.

The deputy chief of Iran’s Track and Field Federation, Niazzadeh has told Shirzanan “ women participation in overseas competitions have increased their self-confidence. They participate in the National races more aggressively than before, since they know if they get a god result here in the country the will have a better chance of being send to an international competition.”

Track and Filed Federation will send twenty-nine of their athletes to attend the second round of Asian Indoor Games (Track and Field competitions). So far, for the women team, Federation has chosen: Zahra Nabizadeh, Leila Ebrahimi, Mina Pouryousefi, Maryam Tousi, Padideh Boulourizadeh, Batoul Mirma’soumi, Sepideh Tavakolli, Parisa Behzadi, Nafiseh Motaii and Zohreh Farjam. According to Dr. Eydi Alijani, manager of track and field team, this team is the largest track and field team after Iran’s Islamic Revolution. She explained “Because of this large number we had some difficulties with Olympic Committee. So far the issue has been resolved but our team members should keep themselves prepared at all times.”
