Why Iran Media Avoid Women’s Sports

Shirzanan: Solmaz Sharif /translated by Roja Najafi: By wining three Olympics’ spots (berth), in one year, Iranian women athletes have opened up a new subject of discussion for Iranian sports authorities, which caused the sports officials and authorities to criticize the media for the lack of women’s sports in their sports news. Media is the most influential tool that can be used for unification and progress of sports. In the modern world media is the means of communication and communication has an imperative role on the progressive changes in any community as well as on the learning knowledge and skills.

Be Strong and Outstand!

Shirzanan: Shabnam Shakourian /translated by Roja Najafi: When they talk it is not unclear, but the energy in their eyes is more than enough clear. To see them practice and exercise with the least equipments changes the world’s color to a new color; the color that can be seen after entering the deaf sports gymnasium in Damavand Street. Mohsen Hamidi, the father of 12 year old swimmer Fatemeh Hamidi, says, “The deaf athletes need much more care and attention than this from the Physical Education Organization.” He explains. “ Fatemeh became deaf at the age of 5. She is a good swimmer.”

Fatemeh who is standing near by says something using her hand; “ My only wish is to become a great athlete one day. I like to participate in the national championships, like others.” But his father is worried that the lack of attention and the many obstacles holds her daughter back; “ They are very sensitive, if we don’t give them the care they need, they will be disappointed soon, and get away from sports.”

Sara Saedi 16 is a bodybuilder athlete tries to tell us that to use the facilities here she has to come a long way each time. Sarah says, “ deaf male athletes have less problems with the budget and facilities but female deaf athletes are still struggling.”
