Shirzanan: Finances are always important in athletic activities especially when it comes to women; fortunately these days the number of professional female athletes whose salaries are comparable to the same rank male athletes is increasing. On the history of women’s sports in Iran after the Islamic Revolution

Shirzanan: Nasrin Afzali /translated by Roja Najafi: It is still not clear that how the women’s sports in Iran became reactivated after the revolution of 1979. Moreover there have been no studies to show what exactly caused the postponement of women’s sports during the revolution. Also the reemergence of women’s sport after the revolution is an understudy’s subject, which needs more attention. Shirzanan Weekly decided to dedicate a series of articles on the history of women’s sports in Iran after 1979, based on the memoirs and interviews of active figures on Iranian women’s sports.

This article aims to show the outstanding role of Faezeh Hashemi on the progress of women’s sports in Iran. We can hardly find anyone who has been active in women’s sports in Iran and denies Faezeh Hashemi’s role on this progress.
